Saunders Bridges is a shareholder whose areas of practice include commercial and environmental litigation, insurance defense, products liability, medical and other professional liability defense. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, carries an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been a multi-year selection as a South Carolina Super Lawyer. He also maintains a longstanding practice as a mediator, and is a certified mediator in both state and federal courts.
He is a 1973 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he served as Research Editor of the South Carolina Law Review. He has served in numerous positions within the South Carolina Bar, including the House of Delegates, the Judicial Qualifications Committee, as Chair of the South Carolina Bar Dispute Resolution Section and the South Carolina Supreme Court Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Sandy began practice in his family’s law firm in Florence, South Carolina in May of 1974, and continued to practice insurance defense until 1983. From 1983 to 1985 he practiced as a senior trial attorney with United States Department of Justice Environmental Enforcement Section in Washington, DC, representing the United States in civil environmental enforcement actions throughout the country. He then returned to private practice in Florence.
He is actively involved in civic affairs, particularly in the area of education. He served as Chairman of the Montessori School of Florence, and on the Board of Trustees for Trinity Collegiate School, the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, and the Governor’s School Foundation. He serves as a member of the vestry and as Chancellor of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
